Environment

Roading New Zealand has a commitment to be environmentally responsible and to ensure that the operations of its members have a minimum impact on the environment. The Environment Committee was formed to identify, develop, maintain and facilitate best practice for environmental issues associated with roading, utilities and land transport infrastructure activities.

In particular, the committee’s objectives include ensuring that:

  • the industry is aware of and is encouraged to use current best practice methods;
  • best practice methods are reviewed and revised on a regular basis to minimise environmental risk to the industry and to ensure modern concepts are known and kept current;
  • Roading NZ remains the foremost source of best practice information for environmental issues in the identified areas of activity;
  • clients and stakeholders support RNZ’s best practice methods concerning environmental issues and have confidence in RNZ members’ ability to operate in a responsible manner to protect the environment;
  • environmental issues are integrated into safety and quality planning.
