Skills & Capacity

The roading and civil construction sector in New Zealand offers a wide range of employment opportunities. In spite of current financial conditions the land transport infrastructure industry offers more opportunities than many sectors.

Roading New Zealand represents a variety of member companies and organisations tasked with the development, construction, maintenance and growth of New Zealand's infrastructure and roading networks.

Members of Roading New Zealand currently contract and/or build and maintain up to 90 percent of Government roading work (State highways) and around 70 percent of local authority roading work. Its members employ approximately 10,000 people and have a combined annual turnover of around NZ$3 billion.

We work closely with InfraTrain New Zealand, the contracting industry’s training organisation, to provide guidance on careers in the infrastructure industry.

With established career paths and progressive training, employees have the opportunity to work to senior positions in the industry, working as part of a team on the things New Zealand is built on.
