Roading New Zealand (RNZ) has a commitment to be environmentally responsible and to ensure that the operations of its members have a minimum impact on the environment. Our member organisations will:

• Comply with all relevant legislation including the Resource Management Act 1991 and local government policy and plans and commit to promoting the sustainable management of natural and physical resources.

• Promote the efficient use of energy and resources and minimise wastage in all of its areas of influence.

• Identify and avoid, remedy or mitigate any harmful emissions to air, water or land.

• Ensure that compliance with legislation is the responsibility of all member employees.

• Ensure that employees of member organisations receive information and training where appropriate, on the need to be environmentally responsible and to encourage good environmental practices.

• Monitor environmental performance with our stated environmental policy and objectives.

• Ensure that all contractors are environmentally responsible.

• Strive for continuous environmental improvement through Industry Self Governance and communication with stakeholders.
