Roading Excellence Awards 2010
Each year Roading New Zealand hosts the Roading Excellence Awards in order to promote leadership, excellence and best practice within the industry. The awards also aim to promote collaboration and the transfer of innovation.
Entries opened in May for the 2010 Awards. The closing date for entries is Friday 16 July. Winners will be announced on Monday 27 September. An Entry Kit for the 2010 Awards can be downloaded here.
This year a new category has been introduced in the competition. As project values continue to widen there is a need to recognise that a large number fall between $5 and $25 million in value and this needs a specific focus. Accordingly there is a new category for medium sized projects.
The other categories will remain, with the Major Road Project category for projects greater than $25 million and the Minor Road Project category for projects under $5 million.
The competition is open to all organisations that administer roads, e.g. New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) or local authorities, as well as contractors and consultants. Eligible projects are those roading projects completed in New Zealand between 10 July 2008 and 14 July 2010.
Joint entries are encouraged for the Road Project categories as the criteria covers planning through to construction and include collaboration, co-operation, and relationship building. (A road is defined as a pavement that vehicles drive on or is used by pedestrians, which may include ports, race tracks and airports.) Categories for 2010 are:
